Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
  • 1/3 c. pearl barley
  • 1 Tbsp. beef bouillon granules
  • 2 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1 tsp. dried basil, crushed
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1/4 c. catsup
  • 2 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 4 to 5 c. water

Method

  • In large Dutch oven, brown the beef.
  • Drain well.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  • Season to taste (salt, pepper, garlic, etc.).
