Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (16 oz.) can refried beans
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2/3 c. chile salsa or taco sauce
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1 (4 oz.) can chopped green chilies
  • 2 c. grated Cheddar or Jack cheese or combination of both

Method

  • Fry ground beef and onion until brown and crumbly.
  • Drain well.
  • In baking dish, mix browned meat and onion with beans, 1/2 the salsa, all seasonings, all chopped chilies and half the cheese.
  • Smooth out top of mixture and sprinkle with remaining grated cheese.
  • Drizzle remaining salsa over top of cheese.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
  • Serve with chips.
  • (Dip can be garnished with sour cream and guacamole.)
