Ingredients
- 2 large white onions
- 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms or 2 small cans
- 1/2 lb. Swiss cheese, shredded
- 10 or more slices French bread, buttered on both sides
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 or 3 tsp. soy sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Saute onions and mushrooms in butter.
- Butter a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Prepare layers:
- mushrooms and onions, shredded Swiss cheese and French bread.
- Mix soup, milk and soy sauce.
- Pour over all. Make a day ahead and refrigerate.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes, uncovered.
