- 2 onions, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 celery, chopped
- 2 cloves, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 4 lb. ground beef
- 2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes (undrained)
- salt
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1/4 c. green chili salsa
- 3/4 c. chili powder
- 1 (4 oz.) can diced green chilies
- 1/2 c. water
Method
- In Dutch oven, saute the first 4 ingredients in hot oil or until tender.
- Add meat, 1 pound at a time, until meat loses redness.
- Drain.
- Add water.
- Add remaining ingredients, stirring after each addition.
- Simmer 2 1/2 hours, stirring frequently. Season to taste.
