Ingredients

  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 celery, chopped
  • 2 cloves, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 lb. ground beef
  • 2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes (undrained)
  • salt
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1/4 c. green chili salsa
  • 3/4 c. chili powder
  • 1 (4 oz.) can diced green chilies
  • 1/2 c. water

Method

  • In Dutch oven, saute the first 4 ingredients in hot oil or until tender.
  • Add meat, 1 pound at a time, until meat loses redness.
  • Drain.
  • Add water.
  • Add remaining ingredients, stirring after each addition.
  • Simmer 2 1/2 hours, stirring frequently. Season to taste.
