Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 48 chocolate candy kisses
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar (to roll dough balls)

Method

  • Mix sugars, shortening, peanut butter, egg, milk and vanilla until well blended.
  • Gradually add flour.
  • Roll by hand into 1-inch dough balls.
  • Roll in sugar that was set aside.
  • Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, on cookie sheets sprayed with non-stick spray. Place unwrapped kisses onto warm, out of the oven, cookies.
  • Cool.
