Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast (Fleischmann's Rapid Rise)
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. lukewarm water
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening or oil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 7 to 8 c. all-purpose flour

Method

  • Put 8 cups flour in pan, add salt and mix well.
  • Add mixture of sugar, yeast and water in flour.
  • Add shortening, mix well. With hands, knead in enough flour to keep from being sticky. Place in greased bowl and put a little oil on top.
  • Let rise until double in size; punch down.
  • Shape into rolls; brush tops with oil.
  • Let rise until doubled in size.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until brown.
