Ingredients

  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 3 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/2 c. red wine (Red Rose Port wine)
  • 1 lb. pecans, chopped
  • 1 lb. candied pineapple
  • 1 lb. candied cherries
  • 1 lb. dates

Method

  • Cream oleo and sugar.
  • Add eggs and add liquids and sifted ingredients alternately.
  • Use part of flour to dredge chopped fruits and nuts.
  • Drop on greased cookie sheets and bake in 325° oven for 20 minutes.
  • Makes 16 dozen.
  • Excellent cookies at Christmastime.
