Ingredients

  • corn meal
  • 2 c. skim milk
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 5 c. flour
  • 2 packets dry yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda

Method

  • Grease 2 (8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch) loaf pans.
  • Sprinkle with corn meal.
  • Shake out excess.
  • Combine milk and water.
  • Heat in microwave on High about 3 to 4 minutes (between 120° to 130° on thermometer).
  • Mix 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and baking soda in large bowl.
  • Add warm milk mixture and beat well.
  • Blend in remaining flour and stir until dough is stiff.
  • Knead in bowl.
