Ingredients

  • 8 (1 1/4 oz. size) Milky Way bars
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 c. finely chopped pecans
  • 1 c. vegetable shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour (not sifted)
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 c. buttermilk

Method

  • Melt Milky Way bars in saucepan with butter or margarine and pecans, then cool.
  • Cream shortening and sugar together.
  • Add eggs and beat well.
  • Blend in cooled mixture.
  • Alternately add dry ingredients and liquid.
  • Bake in 4 greased and floured layer cake pans for 25 to 30 minutes at 350°.
  • When layers are cool, put together with icing.
