Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. turmeric
  • 3 lb. green beans
  • 3 c. cider vinegar
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 3 Tbsp. dill seed or head of dill
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • garlic

Method

  • Combine sugar, vinegar, water, syrup, salt and turmeric. Bring to boil.
  • Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Cook beans about 10 minutes; drain.
  • Pour hot syrup over beans.
  • Put red pepper, 2 cloves garlic and dill in pint jars.
  • Add beans and syrup.
  • Seal. Process 10 minutes in hot water bath.
  • Makes 4 pints.
