Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 (20 oz.) can sliced pineapple, drained (save juice)
  • walnut halves
  • maraschino cherries
  • 1 pkg. yellow cake mix

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Heat margarine in 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish or pan in oven until melted.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar over margarine.
  • Arrange pineapple on top of mixture.
  • Decorate with walnut halves and maraschino cherries.
  • Prepare cake mix as directed on package, except substitute pineapple juice for water. Pour cake batter over mixture already in pan.
  • Bake until top springs back when touched lightly in center, 45 to 55 minutes. Immediately invert pan on heatproof serving plate.
  • Let pan remain a few minutes.
  • Serve warm and if desired with whipped cream.
