Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. sour milk
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. cocoa
Method
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Add unbeaten eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and milk, alternating milk with flour which has been sifted with salt, soda and cocoa.
- Add boiling water all at once; stir until well mixed.
- Bake in three 8-inch layer pans or one 9 x 12-inch sheet cake pan.
- This is a large, moist cake that will keep well.
- Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.
- Top with your favorite chocolate frosting.
