- 5 lb. chicken wings, disjointed, (discard tips)
- 3/4 c. butter
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. soy sauce
- 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
- 3/4 c. water
- 1-2 tsp. crushed red pepper (to taste)
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. Chinese Five Seasons spice powder
- 2 star anise (broken into pieces)
Method
- Put all ingredients except chicken into medium saucepan and heat over low heat until butter is melted and sugar dissolved. Arrange wings in single layer in large shallow baking pan.
- Pour sauce over wings and roast in 350° oven for 2 hours, turning wings after 1 hour.
- Serve hot. Can be made and heated up in oven next day or in crock-pot.
