Ingredients

  • 1/2 head cabbage
  • 1 c. medium white sauce
  • 1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 c. buttered bread crumbs

Method

  • Cook large pieces of cabbage in boiling salted water for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Do not overcook.
  • Drain cabbage.
  • Cut off thick stems and cut into small pieces.
  • While cabbage is cooking, prepare the buttered crumbs and white sauce.
  • When last portion of milk is added to sauce, add the cheese.
  • When cheese is melted, layer cabbage and sauce in a greased baking dish.
  • Top with buttered crumbs and bake 20 minutes at 350°.
