Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. soft margarine
  • 5 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. sugar

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in water in large mixer bowl.
  • Add buttermilk, eggs, 2 1/2 cups flour, margarine, sugar, baking powder and salt. Blend on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping sides of bowl.
  • Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.
  • Stir in remaining flour.
  • Knead for 5 minutes or about 200 turns on lightly floured board.
  • Shape as desired.
  • Let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. (Dough is ready to bake if slight dent remains when touched.) Bake at 350°.
