Ingredients

  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Cover chopped dates with 1 cup hot water. Set aside.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add dates and water. Sift together flour, cocoa and baking soda. Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter in greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
