- 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 c. unbleached flour
- 3/4 c. wheat germ
- 1/2 c. dried milk powder
- 2 Tbsp. sesame seed
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar, packed
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 3/4 c. water
Method
- Combine the flours, wheat germ, dried milk powder, sesame seed, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Stir in the water well.
- Butter four 1 pound shortening cans.
- Pour in the batter.
- Smooth tops.
- Cover each tightly with foil.
- Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
- Immediately remove bread from cans.
- Cool on racks.
