Ingredients
- 5 c. flour, divided
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. warm milk (120~ to 130~)
- 1/2 c. warm water (120~ to 130~)
- cornmeal
Method
- In large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and baking soda.
- Add warm milk and water.
- Beat on low speed for 30 seconds and on high speed for 3 minutes.
- Stir in remaining flour.
- Dough will be stiff.
- Do not knead.
- Grease 2 loaf pans; sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Spoon batter into pans.
- Sprinkle cornmeal on top.
- Cover; let rise until double, about 45 minutes. Bake at 375° for 35 minutes.
- Remove from pans immediately; cool on rack.
- Slice and toast.
