Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 5 c. thinly sliced onions
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 beef bouillon cubes
  • 6 1/3 c. water
  • 6 toast rounds
  • 1/2 c. grated cheese

Method

  • Saute onions in butter until golden brown. Sprinkle with pepper. Bring bouillon cubes and water to a boil. Add onions and salt. Simmer, covered, for 1 hour.
  • Place 1 toast round in each soup dish. Pour in soup and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Makes 6 servings.
