Ingredients
- 6 to 8 medium apples (Winesap or Jonathan)
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 1/2 to 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. white vinegar
- dash of salt
- cinnamon and nutmeg (generous sprinkling)
- small red cinnamon candies
Method
- Core apples (do not peel) and cut into sixths.
- In skillet, melt margarine.
- Add apples, sugar, vinegar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cinnamon candies.
- (Candies are for red color as well as flavor.)
- Cook slowly (mostly uncovered) for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- The apples will have cooked out part of their juices. Stir carefully and occasionally.
