Ingredients

  • 1 c. cornmeal (yellow)
  • 1/3 tsp. soda
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 can cream-style corn
  • 1/4 c. bacon grease
  • 1 lb. hamburger, browned
  • 1 onion
  • jalapeno peppers (as desired)
  • 1/2 lb. cheese

Method

  • Mix cornmeal, soda, salt, milk, eggs, corn and bacon grease. Grease pan; cover with yellow cornmeal and brown.
  • Layer half of cornmeal mixture on the bottom of pan, then layer peppers, hamburger, onions and cheese.
  • Put remaining half of cornmeal mixture on top.
  • Cook at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes.
