Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 lb. dressed and cut up chicken
  • 1/2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/4 c. lemon juice
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/4 tsp. Tabasco
  • 1 c. ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Brown chicken in fat.
  • Combine other ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes to make sauce.
  • Place browned pieces of chicken in baking pan and pour sauce over it.
  • Put into medium oven at 350° and bake, uncovered, for an hour, basting frequently.
  • Test drumstick for doneness and if pink meat shows, bake for 15 minutes more.
  • Serves 4 to 6.
