Ingredients
- 1 loaf unsliced Italian bread
- 1 lb. Swiss cheese, grated
- 8 oz. fresh mushrooms, chopped
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced (stems included)
- 2 Tbsp. poppy seed
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
Method
- Score bread by slicing lengthwise to within 1/2-inch from bottom in 1-inch sections.
- Turn and do the same in the other direction.
- Stuff bread sections with cheese and mushrooms. Sprinkle onions, poppy seed and seasoned salt over top.
- Melt butter; add lemon juice and dry mustard.
- Stir to dissolve. Gently spoon butter mixture over bread.
- Wrap in foil.
- Bake at 350° for about 40 minutes.
- To serve, fold foil back.
- Guests help themselves by pulling pieces off with a fork.
