Ingredients

  • 1 loaf unsliced Italian bread
  • 1 lb. Swiss cheese, grated
  • 8 oz. fresh mushrooms, chopped
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced (stems included)
  • 2 Tbsp. poppy seed
  • 1 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard

Method

  • Score bread by slicing lengthwise to within 1/2-inch from bottom in 1-inch sections.
  • Turn and do the same in the other direction.
  • Stuff bread sections with cheese and mushrooms. Sprinkle onions, poppy seed and seasoned salt over top.
  • Melt butter; add lemon juice and dry mustard.
  • Stir to dissolve. Gently spoon butter mixture over bread.
  • Wrap in foil.
  • Bake at 350° for about 40 minutes.
  • To serve, fold foil back.
  • Guests help themselves by pulling pieces off with a fork.
