Ingredients

  • 250 g dessert apples, chopped
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 150 g soft margarine (olive or vegetable)
  • 75 g dark brown sugar
  • 75 g golden syrup
  • 325 g oats
  • 15 g oat bran
  • 25 g ground flax seeds
  • 40 g dried cranberries
  • 20 g dried blueberries
  • 20 g sesame seeds
  • 30 g sunflower seeds
  • 50 g brazil nuts (shaved)

Method

  • Bring apples to boil, then simmer for 10 minutes until soft.
  • Melt margarine, sugar & syrup in a large saucepan, then remove from heat.
  • Add berries to hot mixture to allow time to plump up.
  • Add all other ingredients.
  • Mix well.
  • Pat into 30cm x 20cm (12" x 8")pan.
  • Bake @ 180c for 25 minutes.
  • Allow to cool for 15mins before cutting and removing from pan onto cooling rack.
