Ingredients

  • 1/2 head cabbage
  • 1 tsp. margarine or butter
  • 1 Tbsp. minced parsley
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 c. chicken consomme or 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • salt to taste
  • caraway seed

Method

  • Remove core from the cabbage.
  • Cut into bite sized pieces. Melt margarine in a large skillet.
  • Put in cabbage, parsley, sugar, pepper and consomme.
  • Cover and cook over moderate heat about 12 minutes, basting with the pan juices several times.
  • About 1 minute before the cabbage is done, sprinkle with caraway seed.
  • Remove cabbage to a serving dish.
  • Pour the pan liquid over the cabbage. Yields 6 servings.
