- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 chopped green pepper
- 1 Tbsp. crushed red pepper
- 1 lb. Italian sausage
- 1 large chopped onion
- 2 large c. crushed peeled tomatoes
- 1 large c. tomato sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 4 bay leaves
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. oregano
- pinch of sugar (kills acidity of tomatoes)
- 1/2 to 1 c. dry red wine
Method
- Simmer 3 or 4 hours.
- Half hour before done, add 8 ounces chopped mushrooms and 2 cups of minced clams, drained.
