Ingredients
- 1 3/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1/2 c. honey
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 Large eggs
- 3 Packages dry yeast
- 2 - 2 1/2 c. bread flour
- 1 c. rolled oats
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
Method
- Combine water, honey, butter, Large eggs and yeast.
- Let set to dissolve yeast.
- Add in remaining ingredients.
- Fold in mixer with dough hook or possibly knead by hand, about 5 - 10 min, till elastic.
- Dough will be soft.
- Place in greased bowl.
- Cover and let rise till double, 45 min to 1 hour.
- Punch down and divide.
- Pat into 2 loaves.
- Place in greased 9"x5"x3" bread pans.
- Let rise for 45 min to 1 hour.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 min.
- Makes 2 loaves.
- Cold in pans for about 10 min then finish cooling on wire rack.
- I usually coat the top crust of baked bread by "buttering" it lightly with butter while warm.
- This softens the crust and makes it easier to slice after cooling.
