Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. parsley
- 1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning (optional)
- 1/4 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. sage
Method
- Cut shortening into flour, spices, baking powder and salt with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
- Stir in milk. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in boiling stew or thick soup.
- Try not to drop directly into liquid.
- Cook, uncovered, 10 minutes.
- Cover and cook 10 minutes longer.
- (I use these for homemade, from scratch chicken and dumplings.)
