Ingredients

  • 1 lb. stew beef, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. oleo
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
  • 1 large green pepper, cut in strips
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 c. cold water
  • 4 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper

Method

  • Brown meat slowly in butter.
  • Add onion and garlic last few minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water.
  • Add to meat.
  • Cover and simmer until almost tender. Add tomatoes and green pepper; cook 10 minutes.
  • Now combine cornstarch, cold water and soy sauce.
  • Stir into meat, bring to a boil and stir for 5 minutes.
  • Remove garlic.
  • Serve this over rice or noodles.
  • Serves 6.
