- 4 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup onions
- .5 cup celery
- 2 cloves garlic
- 16 ounces tomato sauce
- 12 ounces tomato paste
- 4 tablespoons grated parmesan
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- .5 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 piece bay leaves
- 2 teaspoons fennel seeds
Method
- In a large skillet, melt butter with the oil.
- Add the onion, celery and garlic and saute until soft and transparent.
- Add tomato sauce and tomato paste and stir until smooth.
- Add remaining ingredients and bring to slow simmer.
- Simmer for 30-60 minutes (or not at all depending on your taste and time frame).
