Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. cocoa
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 stick oleo
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Pour boiling water slowly over the cocoa, stirring until mixture is consistency of cake batter.
- Beat egg yolks well and add to chocolate.
- Cream butter and sugar well; stir into mixture. Stir soda into buttermilk.
- Add buttermilk and flour slowly.
- Add vanilla.
- Fold in well beaten egg whites.
- Bake in two pans for 20 minutes at 350°.
