Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2/3 c. flour
  • 4 c. milk
  • 2 cans chicken broth
  • 1/2 Tbsp. hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp. white pepper
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped broccoli
  • 1 lb. Velveeta cheese

Method

  • Melt butter in large pan.
  • Add chopped onion; cook until tender.
  • Add flour; whisk.
  • Cook 1 minute on low heat, stirring. Add milk and chicken broth; cook on medium heat, stirring until thickened.
  • Add cheese and seasonings, stirring until cheese has melted.
  • Add broccoli; reduce heat and cook until broccoli is tender (about 30 minutes).
  • Do not boil.
