Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 2/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 2/3 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped in small chunks

Method

  • In medium bowl, cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  • Add to butter mixture and combine. Divide dough in half and place on sheets of parchment paper.
  • Roll each half into a log about 1 1/2 inches.
  • Refrigerate until firm, 2 hours or overnight.
  • Cut logs into 1/4-inch and place on pan. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in a 350° oven.
