Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 12 teaspoon baking powder (heaped)
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 12 teaspoon ajwain
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, crushed
  • 12 cup yellow moong dal
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 14-12 teaspoon salt
  • oil (for frying)

Method

  • Mix ingredients for dough and knead till soft.
  • To prepare the filling - boil the daal with all the spices listed till it is soft but not mushy.
  • Drain and let it dry.
  • Moisten palms with a little oil, take a tbsp of dough which you form into balls and flatten into small circles with your hands.
  • Place the daal filling in the middle of the circle, bring sides together and pinch to close.
  • Flatten the ball again.
  • Repeat with the remaining dough.
  • Deep fry.
  • Serve.
