Ingredients

  • 2 c. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. Karo syrup
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 pinch cream of tartar
  • dash of salt
  • 8 qt. popped popcorn

Method

  • Mix sugar, syrup and butter.
  • Bring to a rolling boil. Stirring constantly, cook 5 minutes more.
  • Add baking soda and cream of tartar.
  • Pour and mix over popcorn in a large soup pot. After mixed well, place in a large roaster pan, cookie sheet or shallow pan and bake in 200° oven for 1 hour.
  • Pour on waxed paper and separate to cool.
  • Store in sealed Tupperware to keep crisp.
